Every truck will need tires, brakes, injectors and eventually bigger work. Carriers that treat maintenance as a per-mile cost, and fund it as they go, stay on the road when the shop bill arrives.
Price the year
List the maintenance you expect over the next year or two: tires, brakes, oil and filters, inspections, plus a reserve for a major repair. Divide by the miles you expect to run.
Set it aside every week
Move that amount per mile into a separate account with every settlement. It is not profit until the repairs are paid.
Track what you spend
Log every repair by unit and date. Over time you will know your real maintenance cost per mile, and whether the truck is still worth keeping.
Our maintenance fund calculator works out the cents per mile, and the maintenance planner tracks what is due.
