Equipment records: inspections, plates and paperwork

Every truck and trailer carries its own dates: the annual inspection, the registration, the insurance listing. One list of units keeps them current.

Federal rules require each commercial motor vehicle to pass a periodic inspection at least once every 12 months, with proof carried or kept as the rules allow. Registrations and permits have their own renewal dates.

For each unit, record

  • Unit number and type: truck, trailer, car hauler.
  • The last six of the VIN and the plate.
  • The date of the last annual inspection.
  • The registration expiration.
  • Whether it is listed on the insurance policy.

Check monthly

Look 30 days ahead. Schedule inspections and renewals before they lapse, not at the scale house.

Our equipment list flags dates coming due and puts them on the back office calendar.
