Many Florida civil cases go to mediation before trial. Parties with authority to settle are generally required to attend, and what is said in mediation is generally confidential under Florida law. Counsel handles the substance; the logistics are where support helps.

The week before

  • Confirm the date, time, place or video link with the mediator and all parties.
  • Confirm the client will attend, and how long the day may run.
  • Send the mediation summary on the mediator's deadline, as counsel directs.
  • Update the medical bills and liens totals.

The day before

  • Print or prepare the mediation binder counsel wants.
  • Have the current lien amounts and the costs to date ready.
  • Remind the client of the time and what to bring.

Our mediation prep checklist covers each step.
